Philadelphia Eagles: 3 Realistic expectations for Jalen Hurts in Year 2
Well, it’s all on the shoulders of Jalen Hurts now.
Well, it’s been quite the roller-coaster ride for the Philadelphia Eagles already in 2021, and here’s what’s crazy about the entire thing. At the time of this story being published, we haven’t even reached the start of the new league year yet. Just stop for a moment, breathe and put yourselves in Jalen Hurts‘ shoes if you don’t mind.
This guy has seen enough quarterback controversies to last a lifetime. We won’t even get into what happened at Alabama with Tua Tagovailoa. We’ll just begin with the NFL journey.
There were questions about what Hurts’ role would be when the Birds took him in the second round of 2020’s NFL Draft. Then, when Carson Wentz struggled, there were questions about why the Birds weren’t throwing Hurts in and giving him a shot.
The rookie got his chance. The questions began about what took Philly so long to get him on the field. Then, when Hurts struggled, there were questions about whether or not Wentz deserved as much blame as he was getting. The answer to that question is yes. He absolutely did.
As far as Hurts is concerned, the offseason began. More drama followed. We won’t get into all of that or how it ended, but Wentz is gone. So are the rumors about whether or not Philly would take a quarterback in Round 1. Eagles Chairman and CEO Jeffrey Lurie wants every resource utilized to ensure Hurts’ success.
