Philadelphia Eagles free agency: 3 Possible backup QB options
Is Joshua Dobbs even someone the Philadelphia Eagles would consider?
With the 135th-overall selection in 2017’s NFL Draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers drafted Joshua Dobbs, formerly the signal-caller of the Tennessee Volunteers. Now, while that move hasn’t really made the Black and Gold believe that they’re ready to move on from Ben Roethlisberger, one has to believe that this guy has to have some type of ability, right?
Sure, he only has 17 pass attempts and ten completions on his resume. One would also have to acknowledge that he has yet to throw his first touchdown, but he’s 26 years old.
We’ve seen enough to know that no team should want Andy Dalton under center. Some of the big names that were on the board are gone (Cam Newton, Ryan Fitzpatrick, and Jameis Winston for instance). At this point, it’s been proven that it’s ridiculous to invest a franchise’s trust in Mitchell Trubisky or Colt McCoy.
Joshua Dobbs is simultaneously the evidence that there isn’t much to choose from on the free-agent market at the quarterback position and the fact that Philly will have some inexpensive options.
You may not like the Josh Dobbs option. Heck, our staff hates the Josh Dobbs option, but he’s better than CJ Beathard, Nick Mullens, and Blake Bortles right? One can definitely make the argument.
