Who would have thought about this time last year that it would have come to this? The Philadelphia Eagles fan base has been split right down the middle, and seemingly for what’s been like almost four years, one of the NFL’s most loyal fan bases can’t seem to get on the same page about anything.

It started with that Carson Wentz versus Nick Foles thing. At least that’s what it feels like. Then, it was almost as if no one could agree on anything. Recently, we’ve all watched some of our best friends and family members argue about everything from whether or not Carson Wentz can play to how we should remember him after he left.

That brings us to Zach Ertz. It appears the time has come, and Philly’s most successful tight end in franchise history won’t be a Bird too much longer.

Here are two updates on one of the greatest Philadelphia Eagles of all time.

Well, we all knew this, but it’s beginning to really settle in now. After contractual stalemates, a shouting match with Howie Roseman, and Ertz’s tearful thank you to the only NFL city he’s ever played for, the reality is beginning to settle in.

Ertz’s tenure with Philly is nearing its end as, at the beginning of March’s third full week, we got the news, via NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, that Zach Ertz has been given permission by the Birds to seek a trade and several teams appear to be interested.

That’s not all, however. It appears that we can name the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs as two possible landing spots. Joe Buscaglia, a BIlls beat reporter for The Athletic took to Twitter stating that he’d “be quite surprised if the Bills didn’t make a call”. Meanwhile, Nate Taylor, a Chiefs beat reporter also from The Athletic confirms that the Chiefs have shown interest.

Wait! Are we talking about Zach Ertz and Travis Kelce on the same squad at the same time? It just doesn’t seem fair. Well, ladies and gentlemen, we haven’t reached this story’s conclusion yet, but as the new league year begins, it appears some of the NFL’s elite is doing its impression of ‘the rich getting richer’ while the Birds are simply ‘balling on a budget’. We’ll have to wait and see how things play out.
