814. . . . Monty Rice, Inside linebacker. . player

Here’s someone that may remind Philadelphia Eagles fans of Jordan Hicks.

Georgia inside linebacker Monty Rice isn’t what you’d call a Jordan Hicks clone, but they are alike in many ways. Both are six-foot-one. Both are right around that 235-pound range. Both are more sideline-to-sideline in their approach than the guy that will run downhill and blow up everything, but that isn’t to say that both couldn’t do that too.

Rice is another one of those linebackers that seem to be faster than most teams’ safeties are. At UGA’s Pro Day, he ran a very impressive 4.4-second 40 that some clocked at 4.3 seconds (NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah for instance).

Many of you like numbers, so here’s a look at what Rice did in 40 career games at the collegiate level from a statistical standpoint. He tallied 219 total tackles including 10.5 that resulted in a loss of yardage, two sacks, five pass breakups, three forced fumbles, and a defensive touchdown. he was named First-team All-SEC in 2020 after being named Second-team All-SEC in 2019.

Like Ojulari, Rice is another of those prospects that feel like a Day 2 guy. He’s fully capable of being a three-down guy in the National Football League. Make sure that you make a mental note of him as we near the draft.
