Well, the Philadelphia Eagles have to identify Kelce’s successor at some point.

This would be a great time to state that Jason Kelce might have quietly put together a career that’s Pro Football Hall of Fame worthy. He’s definitely the author of the greatest speech in the history of victory parades.

Thank you. That will be all on that subject. Let’s move on.

Here’s the thing. If you’re a lover of Philadelphia Eagles football, you’ve probably learned that Kelce won’t play too much longer. We’ve revisited this potential retirement thing for about three seasons now. It’s fair to assume that 2020 may be the last ride.

Once the rumor mill began churning in 2020’s offseason, we thought Philly might go the route of finding Kelce’s successor (if they don’t believe Isaac Seumalo is that guy). They didn’t. It might be wise for them to explore the idea in 2021.

Enter Trey Hill. 2020 was slightly disappointing as he allowed his weight to get out of control, and he played too heavy at times. Still, when you poll NFL scouts, many see him as one of the five best centers in 2021’s draft class despite firing a few snaps all over the place. Then again, Jason Kelce did the same thing for the Eagles last season. Maybe we should all acknowledge the fact that these guys are human.

There’s a bit of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde here, but if this young man can stay focused and put everything together, he could be a good pro for a while. Keep an eye on fellow lineman Ben Cleveland as well. He had a goal of 50 reps on the bench press but had to settle for 30. Still, that isn’t a bad day at the office by any means.
