Yes, the Philadelphia Eagles have a ton of safeties. We all know that.
At the time of this story being published, the fourth Monday of 2021’s third month, the Philadelphia Eagles employ Marcus Epps, K’Von Wallace, and Rodney McLeod at safety. They’ve also added two more since the new league year started, Andrew Adams and Anthony Harris.
Drafting another safety may not be the move for Philadelphia with so many other holes on the current roster. They need another wide receiver, a couple of running backs, help at cornerback, and linebackers among other things, but Shawn Davis is someone they should, at minimum, take a look at.
He’s probably not in anyone’s top ten as far as safety prospects, but even though we rank Georgia’s Richard LeCounte a tad higher, he may not be a top-ten safety prospect either. What Davis is, however, is this.
He’s six-foot-tall. He tips the scales at 206 pounds, and in 32 career games, he racked up 123 total tackles, ten pass breakups, a forced fumble, and five interceptions, including two picks in 2020.
Honorable mention: Marco Wilson, cornerback:
While we’re on the subject of secondary help, let’s tip the cap to Marco Wilson. He didn’t overwhelm in 2020, but he didn’t stink up the joint either. Though we’re not ready to say he’s ready to start at the NFL level, we’re also unable to say that he isn’t just as good as what Philly already has either.
