Philadelphia Eagles top 3 remaining free-agent options at every position
Can the Philadelphia Eagles actually sign any free agents?
It’s been said before. There’s this feeling that it needs to be repeated, so here goes. There’s this vibe among some members of the Philadelphia Eagles fan base that Howie Roseman does this wonderful job of managing the salary cap. That isn’t true.
As smart as Howie is (and though some of you like to pick on him as though he isn’t, he is smart), there’s something about this guy that suggests he just hasn’t figured out that companies can’t spend more than they’re allotted to spend. Hence, this team’s difficulty in managing the cap year after year.
Still, even with that being said, the cap remains its own mathematical entity. Just think back to 2017. The Eagles needed a wide receiver, and seemingly with about $15 in cap space, they landed two of the biggest fish in free agency’s pool at the position, Alshon Jeffery and Torrey Smith. Yes, that cap just doesn’t make sense sometimes.
Well, it’s officially the Jalen Hurts show at the NovaCare Complex with this Philadelphia Eagles team, and a new season brings new opportunity, sort of.
In a loaded National Football Conference, the Birds are going to have to sustain drives better than they did in 2020. They’ll also need more points. That isn’t happening with the roster as it’s currently constructed.
Things don’t look much better on the defensive side of the ball. The Birds are on football’s version of life support. They need to draft well, and if they can sign a few inexpensive free agents, that would be good news.
Just for the sake of argument, here are the best available options at every position regardless of cost. Don’t stress too much. Philly won’t be able to get all of these guys.
