. Round 2: Greg Newsome, Northwestern. . player. 882. .

The Philadelphia Eagles need to add talent to the back end of their defense.

Northwestern cornerback Greg Newsome II has the rare combination of size (he’s six-foot-one and 190 pounds), natural ball skills, and football intelligence that NFL coaches covet. A nasty presence on the outside, Newsome would be a great get for the Philadelphia Eagles defense in Round 2.

Landing the Wildcat product in the second round could wind up being an absolute steal for the Birds. Newsome has a nose for the ball and never shy’s away from making contact in the running game. He has a swagger about him that you can’t teach players. You either have it, or you don’t. Newsome got his share and then some.

This young man has excellent hands and the smooth hip movement in coverage that will help him become an excellent cover corner. His footwork is second to no one in the 2021 NFL Draft, and his eye discipline makes him one of the best defensive back prospects in recent years.

The Eagles need to add young talent to their defensive secondary this year. Landing Newsome could be the move they have needed for years, a move that could change the defense’s luck moving forward.
