Philadelphia Eagles seven-round mock draft: April edition
The Crimson Tide product could be a game-changer for the Philadelphia Eagles.
Alabama Crimson Tide wide receiver DeVonta Smith is arguably the greatest college wideout in history. At six-foot-one and 175 pounds, he’s a bit slim, but he has all of the tools to be a dangerous weapon for the Philadelphia Eagles offense.
Versatility is a common theme with the prospects who have entered the 2021 NFL Draft, and Smith has more than his fair share. He’s capable of lining up anywhere for an offense.
Smith is a match-up nightmare for opposing defenses. He is as dangerous in the slot as he is on an island. He can take a hand-off and go the distance. He also adds value as a returner on special teams.
What might be the most impressive trait of the ‘Slim Reaper’ is his willingness to play in a mess. He loves contact and plays a lot bigger than his slight frame shows. He has a toughness to his game that you just can’t teach. Add this to his strong hands, his big-play ability, and his football knowledge. Do that, and any team that takes him has found itself a playmaker.
Despite drafting a wideout in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, the Eagles need to add talent to their receiver’s room. Smith could be the perfect acquisition with the twelfth selection.
