The Philadelphia Eagles trade up in front of two division rivals.

It is usually bad news for teams when they pick behind not one, but two division rivals. For the Philadelphia Eagles, sitting behind the Cowboys and Giants at 10 and 11 is a disaster written on the wall. So, with the 12th pick, the Philadelphia Eagles move up to the 9th slot to select Jaycee Horn.

Sitting at No. 9 right now is the Denver Broncos. John Elway and his staff will be on high alert to trade up for a quarterback, however after things don’t go their way, they receive an offer from the Eagles to move back to 12 and gain future capital.

In order to ascend, the Eagles give up pick 12, pick 123, and a second-round pick in 2022. It is a high price to pay for a three-spot rise, but considering the Eagles will most likely have three first-rounders in 2022, giving up a second next year would be a minor dent in their future draft capital.

Horn’s stock is rising at warp speed and will only continue to rise as the draft draws near. The Cowboys are in desperate need of secondary help and Horn is most definitely on their radar. The Eagles could sit on their hands and let the board dictate their pick or they could jump up and strike Jerry Jones where it hurts.

Horn would be a stellar acquisition to pair alongside Darius Slay next season. With wide receivers like Terry McLaurin, Amari Cooper, Kenny Golladay, and more, the Eagles secondary will need reinforcements via the draft. There is no better way of accomplishing that than stealing a division rival’s prospect and getting the top corner in the draft.
