Philadelphia Eagles draft: Top 3 WR prospects in final three rounds
By Smit Bajaj
The Philadelphia Eagles should have receiver options on the draft’s final day.
If you’re a Philadelphia Eagles fan that hangs out on Inside The Iggles regularly (and thank you if you do), you know that we’ve been ranking the top three wide receivers that should be available in each round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Naturally, we began with Round 1. Most recently, we previewed three from Round 4.
We now head into the final three rounds. Here’s where championship contenders are made. Depth is key in the NFL, and the teams that can find quality talent late in the selection meeting win and win often.
If the Birds are looking to add wide receiver talent late, they’ll have opportunities to do so. Look no further than a popular sleeper among Eagles fans, Dazz Newsome. He’s dangerous at all three levels of the field and is outstanding with the ball in his hands. He may struggle against press coverages, but this weakness is hidden due to the fact that he almost exclusively plays in the slot.
An exciting part of Newsome’s game is his ability to run vertical routes. According to Pro Football Focus, no slot receiver went deep and found the ball in their hands more often in 2019. As the league uses more three-receiver sets, the value of vertical slot receivers increases, making Newsome an extremely intriguing prospect for the Eagles.
If you’re taking note of all of this, list him as one of the top three wide receivers that the Philadelphia Eagles will have a shot at in Round 5. Here are two others as well as the top three wide receiver prospects in Round 6 and Round 7.
