Philadelphia Eagles draft: 3 Enticing second-round options
The Philadelphia Eagles may have a shot at the best safety of the 2021 class.
We saw a run on quarterbacks, cornerbacks, and wide receivers in Round 1, but no one really had a set tooth for safeties. If you’re a Philadelphia Eagles fan, that could be exactly what the doctor ordered as guys like Trevon Moehrig-Woodward (TCU), Jevon Holland (Oregon), Andre Cisco (Syracuse), and Richie Grant (UCF) are all still available as the 2021 NFL Draft moves into its second day.
All of those guys are super-talented, but Moehrig-Woodward might be the best of that crop’s bunch. It’s a little surprising that he’s still on everyone’s big board as the draft moves from its first night to its second.
The safety position isn’t Philadelphia’s most pressing need. They’re stocked with a returning Rodney McLeod, Anthony Harris, K’Von Wallace, Marcus Epps, and Andrew Adams, but in a world where the term ‘best player available’ gets thrown around a lot, Philly needs to think about the possibility of adding what might be the best in this draft’s pool of prospects.
Moehrig-Woodward took home First-team All-Big 12 honors in 2019 and in 2020. This next prospect was named Third-team All-ACC in 2019 and notched First-team All-ACC honors in 2020.
