Way-too-early Philadelphia Eagles 2022 mock draft: Guesses on Round 1
By Hunter Doyle
The Philadelphia Eagles invest in some help at the safety position.
The only safety Philly added in this draft was Jacoby Stevens, and they listed him as a linebacker if you haven’t noticed. Rodney McLeod, Anthony Harris, and Andrew Adams will all be free agents by the time March rolls around, and by this time next year, we’ll have a better idea of what role K’Von Wallace might fill.
He’ll be entering his third NFL season, but he can’t play everywhere. You also have to consider the fact that his ceiling might be as a third safety. Even if Anthony Harris is re-signed, he’ll need some help beside him.
Kyle Hamilton is a six-foot-four, 219-pound safety from Notre Dame that would be an instant help as well as a long-term solution. Over the past two seasons, he’s shown off his ball skills (five interceptions, 12 passes defended) as well as his help in run support (104 tackles).
Durability has also been a strength of his as he has missed just one game over the past two seasons. He’ll enter the NFL Draft with plenty of experience and the ability to play wherever he is needed. That’s something that Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon will love.
