Way-too-early Philadelphia Eagles 2022 mock draft: Guesses on Round 1
By Hunter Doyle
The Philadelphia Eagles invest in the trenches (as usual).
As mentioned earlier, the expectation should be that the Carson Wentz pick turns into a first-rounder, and in this scenario, it does. That means Philly ends up with three in total for 2022’s selection meeting, and it wouldn’t be Philadelphia if their draft didn’t include them investing in the trenches.
They did so this year, but they could still use some youth and depth. By this time next year, we will know whether or not Josh Sweat and/or Derek Barnett will be back.
Brandon Graham will be entering his extension year and will hit the market in 2023. Milton Williams figures to spend time rushing off of the edge and on the interior but it’s way too early to tell.
Ohio State has been churning out defensive ends and Zach Harrison is the next one in line. He is set to take a big jump in the 2021 season with the spotlight on him.
Last year was a bit underwhelming for the six-foot-six, 256-pound lineman but he’ll have one more opportunity to breakout. With the coaching staff at Ohio State and with the physical gifts that he possesses, this figures to be a huge year for him. Philly will land their next franchise defensive end to follow in the footsteps of Brandon Graham.
