When the 2021 NFL Draft came to an end for the Philadelphia Eagles, there was a long list of names to scratch your head about. Of those names, none stood out like former Florida Gators wideout Trevon Grimes. How was he not taken?

Considered one of the most dangerous weapons in the Southeastern Conference, Grimes was expected to be taken at some point in this year’s selection meeting. Despite him going undrafted, the Eagles were lucky enough to scoop the receiver moments after the final player’s name was called.

At six-foot-four and 220 pounds, this is a big-bodied target. Blessed with strong hands at the catch point, long speed to pull away from defenders, and the nasty playing style to match the city of Philadelphia’s personality, it’s needless to say that he has all of the tools to be a true star for the Philadelphia Eagles offense and do so quickly.

With fourteen career touchdowns (nine in 2020) the Florida product is a big-play waiting to happen. Again, how he went undrafted is something that we will never know.

Philadelphia Eagles’ front office might have fallen into a potential star.

It seems like every year the Philadelphia Eagles need wide receivers, so it was no surprise when they drafted DeVonta Smith in round one. Even with the selection of the Alabama prospect, the Birds could always use another upgrade. Adding a player like Trevon Grimes could go a long way in boosting the offense’s passing game.

Don’t be fooled by the fact that he went undrafted. Grimes has all the tools and the skillset to be a difference-maker in the National Football League. It doesn’t matter how hard you look, it’s difficult to find a player his size that has his raw speed and great hands. Throw in his high football IQ, and you can see why the word potential is being thrown around.

The Philadelphia Eagles need to do all they can to help this passing attack.

Moving forward the Philadelphia Eagles front office and the coaching staff needs to keep an eye on the former Gator. The offense has been abysmal at times and needs to find depth at every position.

If they can develop him correctly, Trevon Grimes could be a guy that this Eagles fan base can get excited about moving forward. He may not be one of their nine draft picks from the 2021 class, but don’t be surprised if he claims onto the final 53-man roster. He could be the steal the Birds need.
