. player. 44. . . . Atlanta Falcons, Week 1

The Philadelphia Eagles season begins with a bang in Week 1.

Thanks to the NFC East drawing the NFC South and AFC West in 2021, the Philadelphia Eagles will get their crack at both the NFC and AFC’s representatives in the most recent Super Bowl. As much as it hurts to say this, our staff at Inside The Iggles regrets to inform you that the Birds will be the underdogs in both of those games.

It will be fun to see how a rebuilding team in Philly handles itself versus the last two Super Bowl winners though, however, right now, we’ve all probably scribbled those two games down as losses correct? On the other hand, there’s this to consider. There’s a chance that this Birds team could wind up as the favorites when Week 1’s game versus the Atlanta Falcons rolls around.

Atlanta looks very good on paper. They drafted rookie sensation, Kyle Pitts. Calvin Ridley and a capable Matt Ryan are there, and at the time of this story being published, Julio Jones is still on their roster. Philly’s defense will be tested all game long, and that will still be the case if Jones is traded.

Still, even if the Falcons get out to an early lead, we all know that they always let the opposing team back in the game. Think about this too. Can you imagine what it would do for the psyche of an Eagles team with a new coaching regime, Jalen Hurts making his fifth start, DeVonta Smith making his debut, and a roster with so many new faces, if they went to Atlanta, won, and started the season 1-0?

It’s a very possible scenario. You’ve probably already circled this game on your calendars. Make sure you highlight it as well.
