Is the best quarterback for the Eagles already on the roster?

Out of the three quarterbacks on the roster, Jalen Hurts is the favorite to start, however, Joe Flacco and Jamie Newman could make the competition harder. While Hurts was on pace for 4,200 yards and 24 passing touchdowns (not to mention all of the rushing yards/TDs) last season had he played a full 16 games, Flacco, a former Super Bowl MVP who has thrown for over 40,000 yards in his career, still has the motivation to compete. Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia stated the following:

"Flacco, 36, once said in Denver that it wasn’t his job to mentor Drew Lock and even during his introductory press conference in Philly didn’t want to label himself that way, instead saying that every QB in the room helps each other."

Jamie Newman is also nothing to scoff at. While he isn’t starter potential just yet, he did rank on Chris Trapasso’s top 10 undrafted free agents list. He didn’t play at Georgia with the Bulldogs, but after he transferred, he threw for 3959 yards and 35 touchdowns in basically two years at Wake Forest (he only attempted 4 passes in his freshman year).

While he is nowhere near being a starting-level NFL talent right now, he could be an interesting project for the Eagles if Hurts fails to work out. Keep an eye on him and on Flacco as we all move through training camp and the preseason.
