Is this a mix of four Philadelphia Eagles who are competing for two roster spots?

If the aforementioned theory is true and the Philadelphia Eagles keep six linebackers, these four guys are basically battling for two spots on the 53-man roster. Here’s the skinny on each one of them.

5. Jacoby Stevens

No one seems to be saying this enough, so this is a good opportunity to do so. Jacoby Stevens sliding into the sixth round is one of those things we’re going to be discussing a couple of years from now. That won’t be because he didn’t work out. That will be because he did.

Philly landed another former LSU Tiger late in the draft when they selected Jalen Mills in Round 7 back in 2016. That worked out as well as you can hope. Jacoby Stevens has the potential to be an even better find than Mills was.

6. Davion Taylor

How can this be put? Though fans think they are smarter than NFL coaches about football, they are not. There are times when you wonder what these coaches are thinking though.

This could be totally inaccurate, but it’s worth asking. No one else feels like Davion Taylor should be playing safety? Then again, he never registered an interception while at the collegiate level, so never mind.

7. Patrick Johnson

Since his selection in the 2021 NFL Draft, Patrick Johnson has been called an EDGE guy, a defensive end, and a linebacker. The Eagles’ official website lists him as a linebacker, but all of that speaks to his versatility. It also increases his chances of catching the coach’s attention when the season starts.

8. Rashad Smith

By a show of hands, how many of you knew Rashad Smith was on the roster? That isn’t to knock the young man, but based on who this team has added and how things currently fall, Rashad Smith is someone who’s looking up at everyone else on the depth chart.
