. . . DeVonta Smith, wide receiver. 6. player. 54

Mr. Smith has the skillset to make the Philadelphia Eagles offense dangerous.

It’s hard to believe the Eagles’ front office was able to trade back in the first round of the draft, land an extra first-round pick for 2022, and still get their man-in wide receiver, DeVonta Smith. Nicknamed the Slim Reaper, the former Alabama Crimson Tide star has been a joy to watch from week to week.

Despite his thin frame, Smith has played like he’s six-foot-nine and 265 pounds. He’s a big play waiting to happen, all while doing it against some of the college football’s most prolific defenses.

The media and fans alike have gone crazy over the wideout’s potential and for good reason. It has been a long time since the Eagles have had a weapon like Smith in their passing game.

He’s capable of playing all three receiver spots for the Birds offense, so expect the team to move the rookie around to create matchup issues for opposing defenses. At the risk of sounding disrespectful, here’s something we’ve all been thinking. The rookie may already be the best wideout on the Eagles’ young roster.

Despite the heavy expectations that Smith will have to deal with, he is built differently than your normal rookie, but just in case it needs to be said, no one has higher expectations for DeVonta Smith, than well, DeVonta Smith.
