Philadelphia Eagles should consider these free-agent defensive backs
The Philadelphia Eagles could be the perfect fit for the former first-round pick.
Former first-round pick Gareon Conley has been a bit of a disappointment up until now. Drafted by what was then referred to as the Oakland Raiders in the 2017 NFL Draft, the former Ohio State standout never really hit his stride.
That would lead to him being traded to the Houston Texans in 2019. The eye-opening part of it all was that he was traded for a third-round pick. That means that there is still some value in the former Ohio State Buckeye. Despite his less than exciting start to his career, Conley has the athletic make-up to be a good player going forward.
Blessed with good size at six-foot-tall and 190-pounds, Conley has shown flashes at times, both as a Raider and a Texan. He is an average cover corner, one that never really blows you away on tape. Still, even though he hasn’t evolved into a star, he has been solid for most of his short career.
What could be more enticing to the Philadelphia Eagles front office is his age. He’s still only 26, so the Birds can add talented youth to their current roster just by making a phone call. Forget the past, Conley has all the tools to be a good player for the Eagles.
