4 Philadelphia Eagles with very intriguing skillsets heading into 2021
Philadelphia Eagles WR Jalen Reagor
Here’s a message for everyone who’s down in the dumps about Jalen Reagor. Don’t give up hope yet. This guy is going to be fine. Look at it this way. Scottie Pippen was much better when he was only required to be the ‘Robin’ to someone else’s ‘Batman’.
People kept waiting on Jalen Reagor to morph into one of the more interesting WR1’s in the league last season. The result? He started all 11 of the games that he appeared in and notched 31 receptions for 396 yards and one receiving touchdown. He also had a brilliant punt return for a touchdown that came versus the Green Bay Packers, but that gets forgotten about because Philly lost that game.
DeVonta Smith’s presence allows Reagor to do what should have been his role in the first place, playing the ‘Robin’ role while someone else is ‘Batman’. Making him the guy is the offensive equivalent of asking Avonte Maddox to cover everyone’s best receiver as CB1. Do you see how bad that sounds?
Reagor will be fine, especially now that he’s playing the WR2 role. That will alleviate the pressure and allow him to simply make plays. Knowing that he can contribute from the slot, on the outside, and as a returner means both the Eagles offensive coordinator Shane Steichen and their special teams coach Michael Clay have a major weapon at their disposal.
