There were pleasant surprises in the Philadelphia Eagles’ first preseason game.
Finally! Football is back in the City of Brotherly Love. The lingering effects of the horrific season in 2020 can finally be put behind everyone. The great news is the Philadelphia Eagles are back on the field and hopes are high for so many reasons.
Week 1 of the preseason, a game versus the Pittsburgh Steelers, is in the books. It wasn’t perfect. There was a lot to like about Philly’s performance. There are also a few things that need to be addressed right away.
All in all, game one has shown more bright spots than dark ones. Here are our ten brief observations that are on everyone’s mind as we move towards the second preseason game.
1. Quez Watkins is good.
Coming into the season, excitement was growing about some of the young guys, but there’s now a fever pitch surrounding someone we weren’t talking about, Quez Watkins. A great start during 2021’s training camp has changed that.
Watkins’ ridiculous 79-yard catch and run to the end zone showed off his speed and his vision. It’s beginning to look like this young man has a bright future. Watkins’ huge play was the highlight of the night. Here are nine other takeaways that came out of this one.
