This rookie could be a true weapon on the Philadelphia Eagles offense.

Game one was a sort of coming out for wideout Quez Watkins. What started as random praise through the first week of training camp continued with a spectacular 79-yard touchdown. Still, even with his amazing rise, this isn’t about the former Southern Miss star. This is about running back Kenneth Gainwell.

The former Memphis Tiger had a solid night in the first meaningful snaps of his NFL career. The five-foot-eleven 190-pound athlete showed out every time he touched the ball.

Sure, Gainwell never broke out for a long run or had some crazy catch. The rookie did everything right, and that is more than you can ask for in the new guy.

When he did carry the ball, he ran with intention, showing off the skillset that the Philadelphia Eagles front office fell in love with. In the running game, he made quick decisions, hit the hole hard, and ran tough. Even more impressive was his addition to the passing game. It’s still early, but Gainwell has all the tools to be a weapon for the Philly offense this season, and beyond.
