Philadelphia Eagles should really take a hard look at Caleb Eagans

One of the oldest sayings in professional sports is “speed kills”. Truer words have never been spoken. The Philadelphia Eagles understand this all too well as they have watched their beloved team suffer because of their own deficiencies over the last few seasons.

Not since DeSean Jackson (the first time around) have the Eagles had a true deep threat, one that can scare opposing defenses while he took the top off of them weekly. General Manager Howie Roseman did a great job adding playmakers to the offense, but Philly needs to continue doing so, and if speed is the talking point, there is one player the Birds consider. Former Texas A&M and current East Texas Baptist University wide receiver Caleb Eagans is his name.

The Philadelphia Eagles must make note of Caleb Eagans.

If speed kills, then Eagans should be locked away. Considered to be undersized at five-foot-nine and 175-pounds, Eagans makes up for it with supersonic speed, some of the cleanest route running of any prospect that will be in next year’s draft, and a humble approach to life.

Watching some training film of the rising star will make it is easy to fall in love with his potential. While speed may be his biggest weapon, his ability to adapt to any situation and his soft hands could make him dangerous on the field. Never shying away from a new challenge, the Texas native may arguably be the most sought-after division-three prospect in years.

Here’s what a scouting source from the NFC East that our staff at Inside The Iggles had to say.

I mean, when you talk Caleb Eagans, you have to talk about his world-class speed, but once you get past that, you see the other things you like about him. He is a delight to be around and a great teammate. He is tough for his size, I mean he isn’t going to be easy to take down. He has a way to set opposing defenders up with his speed and crafty route running. He is a guy that is constantly working to get better, and that’s what you want from a guy. I am very intrigued by him.

The Philadelphia Eagles front office did a great job by adding DeVonta Smith in the 2021 NFL Draft, but moving forward, they will need to continue this trend, and imagining Caleb Eagans destroying the top of defenses while Smith runs wild makes a smile form. That could be a thing of beauty.

While Eagans may play for a relatively unknown school, he is right where he should be in terms of his development. Rule one in the NFL scouting world is to never scout the helmet. We souldn’t care so much about where he plays college football. He has all of the tools to be a difference-maker in the National Football league. He is definitely someone the Philadelphia Eagles should all pay attention to.
