There Philadelphia Eagles roster isn’t built for the future in key areas.

Even with the Philadelphia Eagles having a successful offseason, there are still many issues that will extend past this season. One of the major concerns is when the Eagles should have been looking for successors for players like Fletcher Cox, Brandon Graham, and even Darius Slay.

They, instead, added depth or rotational pieces to this roster. Steven Nelson was a solid signing, but they will still have issues at the CB2 position past this season.

Yes, there has been a lot of buzz following around rookie defensive back Zech McPhearson, but as Philly fans have seen from the last few pre-season games, McPhearson has a ways to go before he can take any starter spot. Defensive lineman Milton Williams has also had flashes, but his overall skill still has to be molded before being a consistent producing member of this team.

On paper and from what we all have seen and heard, the Eagles defense has a chance to be something special this season. Still, this team and fans must be aware they are only two or three major injuries away from us having a repeat of last season, especially in the secondary. The good thing to note is that the Eagles will have solid draft capital and cap space next season.
