We’ve heard rumors about the Philadelphia Eagles trading Zach Ertz, Derek Barnett, and Andre Dillard for a while now, but we haven’t heard any rumors about Philly trading the 49th-overall pick of the 2018 NFL Draft, Dallas Goedert. That would be ridiculous, right? Clearly, he has to be one of the young building blocks on this roster that this team wants to build around.

Well, erase all of that from your thought process. It appears that no one’s safe from finding their way onto Philly’s trading block, just ask Matt Pryor.

The Philadelphia Eagles express interest in shopping Dallas Goedert.

According to National NFL Insider Matt Lombardo, who’s also FanSided’s editor of G-Men HQ and Victory Bell Rings, several sources have told him that Eagles executive vice president and general manager Howie Roseman spoke with the Minnesota Vikings about shipping Geodert over to them, but that deal fell through as the Vikes struck another with the New York Jets to acquire Chris Herndon.

Here’s more from Lombardo.

"There’s a belief inside the league that if the Eagles ultimately wind up trading for Deshaun Watson, that Goedert could be a piece of the package Roseman offers the Texans for the embattled quarterback."

Roseman was quoted as saying, during a recent presser he and head coach Nick Sirianni had with the media, that the Eagles are satisfied with the three quarterbacks this team has, but you know how these things go. That’s a statement that could be retracted if the right deal is placed on the table.

The debate about whether or not Philly’s interested in keeping Ertz, Goedert, both, or neither of them continues. Ertz enters the 2021-2022 season within striking range of the Eagles franchise record for receptions, a mark currently held by Hall of Famer Harold Carmichael.

Both he and Goedert are in contract seasons, but in the minds of quite a few NFL pundits, Philly’s best play would be to extend Goedert as he’s being seen by some scouts and experts as the better of the two tight ends now.

Keep your eyes peeled. Keep your ears to the pavement. This is something that Eagles fans will, no doubt, be paying attention to as Philadelphia continues to shuffle their roster.
