The Philadelphia Eagles need to keep an eye on Atlanta’s swiss army knife.

Philadelphia needs to take note of when number 84 steps onto the field whether it’s on offense or special teams. Cordarrelle Patterson, best known for his explosive kick returns, can change a game on a dime.

In recent years, he has spent more time on offense as a running back and Atlanta has him listed as their backup to Mike Davis. Arthur Smith could utilize him as a gadget or even just a decoy to open up the rest of the field.

This Eagles defense will need to play disciplined with their eyes and prevent any big plays from Patterson. Even on kick returns, Patterson will still take out some kicks that most returners won’t in today’s NFL.

It doesn’t always work but it can catch kickoff units by surprise and turn into excellent starting field position or seven points. Those are the types of plays that spark an offense and give a team plenty of momentum to feed off of. The Eagles need to keep the crowd quiet and limit the momentum shifts in this one. That starts with keeping Patterson quiet.
