The Philadelphia Eagles had many players show out in week one.

1. Javon Hargrave, Defensive Tackle.

One of the highlights coming out of training camp this year was defensive tackle Javon Hargrave and he absolutely showed out in week one. Hargrave tallied six total tackles, three quarterback hits, and two sacks. He was a wrecking ball through the Atlanta Falcons offensive line and continued to be a problem the entire game. It was a very promising first outing and visual for what is to come in the future.

2. Jalen Hurts, Quarterback.

We just talked about some highlights coming out of training camp, but the spotlight was mostly on the Eagles’ second-year quarterback, Jalen Hurts.

A lot of concern surrounds Hurts and his ability to play in this league efficiently, but after today some of those concerns may be silenced.  The young quarterback has a way to go before proving he is the permanent answer for this franchise, but tallying over a 70 percent completion percentage, over 300 yards of offense, and three touchdowns is a nice start. Hurts did a lot more good than bad in Week 1, and everyone hopes this trend continues.

3. Darius Slay, Cornerback.

Cornerback Darius Slay is not a stranger to this stud list, but it was great to see what he could be in full capacity and not having the entire secondary rest on his shoulders. Slay had sticky coverage on any player that he was covering, helped in defending the run, and had a huge pass break up to really start to seal Atlanta’s fate.

Slay is still undeniably the best defensive back on the field, and it isn’t even close.
