Will the Philadelphia Eagles’ success continue into Week 2?

The Philadelphia Eagles have a real test of their new offensive and defensive schemes as they host the San Francisco 49ers in Week 2. These two teams have met 35 times, with the Niners leading the all-time series with a 19-14-1 margin, but the Eagles were the victors in their last two matchups.

Last year, both teams were dealing with injuries to key players, and even in the dismay of the Eagles offense, the Birds came out victorious. Now, Philly fans have to be honest about that victory. The 49ers were missing their star defensive standouts in Nick Bosa and Dee Ford as well as their starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and several others.

Fast forward to this season, and San Francisco still isn’t completely healthy, but their key starters are all back in the lineup. The same also goes for the Eagles. Head coach Nick Sirianni will once again have an almost completely healthy roster heading into Week 2.

A lot of unknowns are surrounding both of these teams still, even after their Week 1 performances. The 49ers have a brand new defensive coordinator, while the Eagles have had almost an entire coaching staff overhaul.

On paper, the 49ers have the advantage, but judging by their close-call win over the Detroit Lions, which we can all agree was a mess, this game will look more evenly matched than some would think. Let’s get into the top three questions surrounding the Eagles Week 2 matchup, shall we?
