It’s getting harder and harder to bounce back and get into a positive mindset when thinking about where this Philadelphia Eagles team is right now. Think about this for a second. An argument can be made that, in Week 4, the Birds played their best game since we saw them in the opener, and they still lost by two scores.

Sure, the Chiefs are a far more superior team. That still isn’t very encouraging. Philly also picked up another garbage touchdown late, so there’s that.

It’s a long season. There are 14 more games to be exact, and the next one comes on October 10th. The Philadelphia Eagles travel to Charlotte to meet the Carolina Panthers. Here are the odds and a few early thoughts on how that one might play out.

Eagles vs Carolina Odds Week 5

The Week 5 betting odds on WynnBET favor the home team, the Carolina Panthers by 4.5 points, and that makes a lot of sense seeing as how Carolina seems to have an advantage on both sides of the ball. Their offense should be able to have success versus the Eagles’ defense. Their defense is one of the better young units in the NFL.

The Panthers also have moneyline odds of -210 while Philadelphia, the underdog, is at +180. The over/under has been set at 47 points.

Eagles vs Carolina Prediction Week 5

Look, it’s not like the Philadelphia Eagles don’t have talent, but no one, outside of defensive tackle Javon Hargrave and punter Arryn Siposs is demonstrating a return on the potential that they have with any consistency.

Most of that is the fault of the Eagles coaching staff. Outside of what we’ve seen from their offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland, there isn’t much of a reason to believe in the guys on the sideline. Meanwhile, Matt Rhule has the Carolina Panthers pointed in the right direction.

Right now, Carolina is the better team. Right now, Carolina is better coached, and even though both teams are coming off of a loss, it feels like Carolina needs to travel the shorter distance to get themselves back in the win column.

The Panthers should and probably will win this one by a touchdown.
