If it seems like forever since the Philadelphia Eagles have won a game, rest easy. It hasn’t quite been that long, but that Week 1 beatdown of the Atlanta Falcons does feel like it was two months ago. Maybe it just depends on your frame of reference.

Philly’s opponent in Week 5 is a scrappy Carolina Panthers team that’s enjoying the rebirth of Sam Darnold. Their defense is young and getting better all of the time. The Darnold and Jalen Hurts duel should be an interesting one.

Buckle up. Even if Philly comes out of this one with a win, they’re going to know that they’ve been in a fight. Here are the best prop bets for Week 5.

Eagles Injury Report vs Panthers Week 5

Lane Johnson (personal matter) has been ruled out for today’s game against Carolina. Jason Kelce (foot/rest), Avonte Maddox (neck), Jordan Mailata (knee), Quez Watkins (knee), and Darius Slay (early week personal matter) were all full participants during Friday’s practice session and are expected to play.

Linebacker Shaq Thompson (foot) and tackle Cameron Erving (neck) are out for Carolina. All-world running back Christian McCaffrey (hamstring) is listed as doubtful. Defensive end Yetur Gross-Matos (ankle) is questionable.

Eagles vs Panthers Odds, Spread, Over/Under & Betting Pick Week 5

According to WynnBET, Philadelphia is a three-point underdog on the road versus these Panthers; however, with the strides we’ve seen made by the Eagles’ offense over the course of the season, this game could go either way.

The real story in this one isn’t Carolina’s defense so much as it’s Philadelphia’s. Jonathan Gannon has refused to run a dime defense and has instead asked two linebackers who can’t cover to do so.

If the Birds can do something worthwhile, this may be an opportunity for Philly to add one to the win column. If not, it could be a long afternoon.

The Eagles, as the underdogs, have a moneyline of +140 compared to the favored Panthers who are at -160. The over/under has been set at 45.5 points. Going with the over there doesn’t seem like a great idea as Philly has a tendency to go on long offensive droughts.
