The Philadelphia Eagles should feel good about a total-team victory in Week 5.

You’ve heard the same things from the Philadelphia Eagles for weeks now. “We’re just a few plays away”. “Rent is due every day”. Much of the other cliche stuff you’ve heard has come from the media and fans. “You never get too high after a win or too low after a loss”.

In Week 5, all of those phrases went from being some loose words that we were sick of hearing to being some much-needed music to our ears. In what was a frustrating watch for most of the afternoon, the Birds rallied late versus the Carolina Panthers. They turned the moans of an ailing fan base that made its way to Bank of America Stadium to the rather soothing sound of cheers.

Birds fans deserved this one. This team deserved this one, and while we’re on the subject of oft-used football cliches, here’s another: total team win. All three phases of the game were working together on this one.

Philly will now turn their attention to the defending Super Bowl Champions, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but before they do, let’s sprinkle a little love on the under-the-radar guys whose contributions were key in delivering a win in Week 5. The Birds may not have won without them.
