2. Zach Ertz breaks the single-season receptions record for a tight end.

You’ve probably looked at the numbers 30 times by now, but just in case you haven’t, here they are again. Zach Ertz racked up 579 receptions, 6,267 yards, and 38 touchdowns in 123 regular-season games. He added another 33 receptions, 360 receiving yards, and two touchdowns in five postseason games.

That’s a lot of work, but his most magical season came in 2018 when he hauled in 116 receptions. Just in case you need a reminder, that’s an NFL record for tight ends, a record that he still holds now.

86 started all 16 games, believe it or not, for the first time (and last time) of his career. 1,163 receiving yards, a personal best, was the result as were eight touchdowns. That tied a career-high.

In 2018, Ertz averaged ten yards per reception and 72.7 yards per game. The latter stat was also a personal best. Some guys stack numbers, accumulate yardage and snags in garbage time, and pad stats. In 2018, it seemed like most of Ertz’s efforts came at the right time.

72 of his 116 grabs that year resulted in a first down and moved the chains. It was truly a season to remember, but Ert’s best moment as an Eagle came in the final game of the 2017-2018 NFL season.
