When you hear phrases like ‘bleed green’, remember that we’re talking about a mindset, one that isn’t just lived by Philadelphia Eagles enthusiasts. It’s lived by the guys who wear the jerseys as well, even if those guys, one day, trade the Birds jersey for that of another team. Zach Ertz is officially an Eagle no more. Don’t tell him that though. He probably won’t believe you.

Less than three days after hauling in his final touchdown pass for the Eagles in Week 6’s version of Thursday Night Football, Ertz traveled with the Arizona Cardinals to Cleveland to watch his new team topple the Browns during a Sunday afternoon affair.

This week, he took the practice field for Arizona wearing that Cardinal red jersey. That’s going to take some getting used to, but if you happened to catch a glimpse of him, you’ll notice that he was rocking a little midnight green as well.

Did you notice that Zach Ertz was wearing Eagles wristbands at practice?

As an Eagles fan, it probably isn’t that often that you find yourself on the Arizona Cardinals’ Twitter account, but how can you not given the circumstances right?

Heading into their October 20th practice session, the Cards posted a few pictures of their new tight end, but if you zoom in on his right wrist, you might find something that will make you smile. Take a look.

What’s that saying? Home is where the heart is? Ertz is as close as you can be to being a Philly guy without actually being born in the city. He’s probably not going to have to worry about paying for his own drinks whenever he’s in the City of Brotherly Love. He may even eat for free (though that may not be a great business decision for a small, family-owned restaurant).

After snagging 579 receptions for 6,267 yards and 38 touchdowns in an Eagles jersey, the next chapter of Ertz’s journey will be written in Arizona. That’s okay though. It’s a part of the game.

Still, as you might expect, while he finishes what’s left of a Hall of Fame career elsewhere, he’s still got that big heart that bleeds midnight green. Don’t you, for a second, think that he doesn’t.
