5 Philadelphia Eagles that won’t be back for another season in 2022
Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver JJ Arcega-Whiteside
Anytime there’s a list of potential trade candidates or guys we wouldn’t have any issue in them leaving town, you can best believe that JJ Arcega-Whiteside is someone we’ve considered putting on the list (even if you don’t see his name on it).
JJAW’s story isn’t one like Anthony Harris’ story or Jalen Hurts’ story. We don’t need further evidence of whether or not something can be tweaked. Arcega-Whiteside’s story isn’t one of ‘maybe if we fix this, and then, that will happen’. JJ Arcega-Whiteside simply cannot play.
Sure, while much of that is the fault of Aaron Moorehead who hasn’t made any of the Eagles’ wide receivers better players after meeting him than they were before they did, this isn’t like DeSean Jackson’s situation. He got hurt.
This isn’t like Alshon Jeffery’s story. He got old. This isn’t like Jalen Reagor’s story. He got drafted by a pathetic team that still doesn’t know how to use him.
JJ Arcega-Whiteside doesn’t have the tools. Stop letting people lie to you. We keep getting force-fed with the ‘this is the year’ lie. In year one, he caught ten passes for 169 yards and a touchdown. In year two, he racked up four receptions for 85 yards. In year three he hasn’t caught a pass yet. He hasn’t even been targeted. Then again, he’s only been on the field for 54 snaps.
It’s time to cut the loss. If the Eagles don’t trade this guy by the deadline, we may need some sort of formal investigation to take place. He’s a bust. Taking him was a mistake, and though he may benefit from a change of scenery, there’s not much evidence to suggest he’d take advantage of the next opportunity that was given to him.
Meanwhile, D.K. Metcalf has 174 career catches and 23 touchdowns if anyone is interested.
