The Philadelphia Eagles have some dead weight on defense that they MUST trim.

Go: Ryan Kerrigan, defensive end

The Eagles have gotten nothing out of Ryan Kerrigan… Nothing. Forget next season. It would be nice if the Eagles would make him a healthy scratch for the rest of this year.

Go: Derek Barnett, defensive end

We doubt that there are any Derek Barnett apologists left, but if there are, we’d love to know what you see that the rest of us can’t.

Go: Marlon Tuipulotu, defensive tackle

Marlon Tuipulotu hasn’t played a defensive snap since the Week 3 game versus Dallas, and at this point, it’s easy to wonder if he’ll play another snap for this team again.

Go: Fletcher Cox, defensive tackle

When your best player, a team captain, thinks he isn’t supposed to play screen passes, you have to wonder if you want this type of leadership around your young players. Plus, he’s deteriorating.

Fletcher Cox is a future Hall of Fame inductee, but his best years are behind him.

Go: Brandon Graham, defensive end

Graham has the attitude that you want in a leader, but he’s expensive. Not only that, it appears that the injuries are going to start showing up with more frequency now.

Go: Genard Avery, linebacker

Genard Avery does some nice things sometimes, but he’s never warranted the faith that the Philadelphia Eagles’ leadership structure continues to place in him.

Go: Davion Taylor, linebacker

At one point in Week 7, the Las Vegas Raiders kept looking for Davion Taylor, and every time he was on the field, they attacked him. What’s worse is just about everything they wanted to do was working.

Go: Eric Wilson, linebacker

It seems wrong to defend Singleton for his play and condemn Eric Wilson, but you have all watched this guy play. Philly took a chance. It didn’t work. It’s time to move on.
