Philadelphia Eagles: 5 Teams who can partner in trade for Derek Barnett

There isn’t much that’s written about Derek Barnett nationally and how he’s viewed by the other 31 NFL franchises, but here’s one thing that you can always hang your hat on. Even players who underachieve or are overrated can be pawned off to another team at least once.

Rasul Douglas just made a game-winning interception for the Green Bay Packers in Week 8. Sidney Jones has a job. So does Mack Hollins. Bashaud Breeland can’t play, and he’s had four jobs on four teams. What is Cordarrelle Patterson excellent at doing?

Then, there are guys like Jadeveon Clowney. Much of his greatness has been exaggerated. He’s big. He’s often more clumsy than athletic, and even though people believe that he’s this sack artist, he’s actually a better run defender.

Sure, he has 3.5 sacks on the current season and 35.5 sacks for his career. A big reason for that is the fact that he has Myles Garrett on the other side of the formation.

Clowney wasn’t exactly a game-wrecker in Seattle with the Seahawks. They gave up on him after a season. He did nothing in Tennessee with the Titans. Here’s the point though. Everything that you just read is debatable but proof that underwhelming and overhyped guys can find a new opportunity with teams who have needs at their position.

The Eagles can absolutely find a trade partner for Barnett. Cleveland makes sense as they’re losing a divisional race that many had them favored to win, and if they want to get to Lamar Jackson and Joe Burrow, they’ll need EDGE help. They’ll need to manipulate the cap some, but if they can do that, this is a marriage that could work.
