Philadelphia Eagles: 5 Teams who can partner in trade for Derek Barnett
We’d rather not see the Philadelphia Eagles ship Derek Barnett off to Seattle.
Cap room: $12.3 million
While it seems bone-headed to ship a player off to a team that plays in your conference, it seems even more ridiculous to send that player to a team that you already have difficulty in beating. Let’s just say your team makes the playoffs and crosses paths with the other guys. That could be a decision that you live to regret later.
The Seattle Seahawks once held a 4-3 advantage over the Philadelphia Eagles in their all-time series. That margin has exploded to a 12-7 advantage in the Hawks’ favor following seven straight victories by Seattle that span from 2011 until last season. The Seahawks have also won nine of the last ten meetings. The Eagles simply can’t beat the Hawks and have never beaten Russell Wilson. Philly doesn’t want to help those guys out, do they?
Then again, the Birds aren’t beating very many teams these days, and if we base trades off of finding teams that don’t currently have a competitive advantage over Philadelphia, the Eagles won’t find a trade partner in anyone.
Here’s why the Hawks are intriguing. They have some cap room ($12.3 million). They need some help in beating the Los Angeles Rams and Arizona Cardinals now and finding someone that can get to Matthew Stafford and Kyler Murray will give them that.
Seattle’s primary areas of need are arguably at offensive tackle and at EDGE. Philly may be able to get something for Andre Dillard as well. The long and the short of it is this though. Based on need, Seattle may need to call Howie Roseman or vice versa. Depending on what the Hawks are willing to offer in return, things could get very interesting here.
