Though there’s no statistical data that can be gathered to prove this, it’s hard to imagine that there’s ever been a time in which a fan base has seen its team go into battle with a winless opponent having demonstrated less faith than much of the Philadelphia Eagles fan base has shown as their squad approaches a game versus the 0-7 Detroit Lions.
Philly is getting worse by the week, not better, and as strange as this sounds, despite their record, the Lions have played some good football from time to time.
Perhaps they’re the team that’s on the verge of having something special happen? Dare we say that it’s the Lions who are o the right track?
Both teams come into this one with injury concerns. According to the Eagles’ Friday afternoon status report, cornerback Zech McPhearson (hamstring) is out of Week 8’s game as is Miles Sanders (ankle).
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that the Eagles are expected to place Sanders on their short-term injured reserve. JJ Arcega-Whiteside (back) is questionable with a back injury but was a full participant at practice on Friday. Anthony Harris (thumbs/Groin) didn’t participate in Wednesday’s session and was a limited participant on Thursday and Friday. He’s doubtful for Sunday.
The Lions’ injury report reads as follows: linebacker Trey Flowers (knee), cornerback Jerry Jacobs (illness), cornerback A.J. Parker (neck), running back D’Andre Swift (groin), and running back Jamaal Williams are all listed as questionable.
All five of the names listed were limited participants during Detroit’s Friday afternoon practice session. By the looks of things, both teams are relatively healthy but could be without some key pieces once kickoff arrives.
The Eagles’ final inactive report will be released 90 minutes before kickoff. Bookmark this one, and watch the space below as we will update this post as soon as we get the information.
