Philadelphia Eagles vs Detroit Lions: Bold predictions for Week 8
Here are two bold predictions for the Philadelphia Eagles on defense.
1. Darius Slay picks off a pass versus his former team. Philly’s D forces two turnovers.
Okay, so maybe that’s two bold predictions. You get the idea though.
The last time the Philadelphia Eagles, Darius Slay, and the Detroit Lions all saw their paths intersect at Ford Field was October 9th of 2016. That one resulted in a 24-23 victory for the Lions.
Yes, you remember the details, even if you’ve tried to wipe that one from your memory. Back then, Darius Slay still suited up in Honolulu blue and silver on gameday. Carson Wentz was a rookie, 3-0, and making his fourth-ever start.
That day ended with Carson Wentz’s first career interception, one that Big Play Slay picked off. He’ll pick one off in this one too. This time, he’ll do so on the Birds’ behalf as Philly’s defense notches a two-turnover performance.
2. The hometown kid helps notch a ten-point victory.
Big Play Slay isn’t the only Eagle making a homecoming of sorts. Avonte Maddox is from Detroit. He’s also been having a very solid season. Expect that to continue.
Expect a fired-up Eagles secondary to spearhead the defense. They’ll play with more energy. Jonathan Gannon will make wiser decisions. Fletcher Cox will notch a tackle on a screen pass. Philly’s defense follows a pathetic performance in Week 7 with one of the bounceback variety in Week 8. The Eagles win this one by two scores. Prediction: Eagles 27, Lions 17
