In spite of the fact that we’re still hours away from the kickoff of the Philadelphia Eagles‘ Week 8 game versus the Detroit Lions, you can best believe there’s enough football to serve as a tune-up for another afternoon of stress (or another three hours or so, at least).
Birds enthusiasts prepare for the anguish of another week of Eagles football in different ways. Some shop for food, whether that be for the next tailgating affair or a visit by friends. Who wants to battle with traffic right?
Others are making plans about what sports bar they’ll inhabit. Some simply watch college football. There’s nothing like putting on the scouting hats and trying to find the next great NFL star that the Eagles will miss on and ignore.

It looks like the Ole Miss Rebels struck gold with this Matt Corral kid, huh? He’s a name that pops up around Eagles circles (even though the Philadelphia Eagles haven’t done anything to express that he’s someone they’ll be interested in.
Watching the struggles of Philly’s current QB1, Jalen Hurts, especially over the past few weeks has reinforced in the minds of some that the Eagles may not be done with their search for a franchise quarterback.
The Eagles are also on pace to secure three first-round picks in the coming NFL Draft (and if the season ended right now, they’d all be in the first 15 selections), so you can see where the dots connect right?
That’s why Corral continues to be intriguing. That’s why anytime that he scrambles, Birds fans hold their breath hoping that he doesn’t injure himself before they have a chance to get a glimpse of him in the red training camp jersey in a potential quarterback battle with Jalen Hurts.
Week 9 promised us a battle between SEC West foes, Ole Miss and the Auburn Tigers. Corral, trying to escape a sack attempt, injured what appeared to be his left leg and had to make his way to the locker room for an X-ray.
