Well, we all got what we wanted. Finally, a week of football has come and gone without an ounce of stress. We can probably say with confidence now that the first week of November won’t be as agonizing as some of the most recent. Winning cures all, or so they say. The Philadelphia Eagles put a much-needed game in the win column versus the Detroit Lions.

There’s was a lot to celebrate. The Eagles eclipsed 200 yards rushing. The defense beat Jared Goff up to the tune of six sacks. Finally, someone else’s quarterback was hammered for once.

It must also be mentioned that Milton Williams and Tarron Jackson both earned the first sack of their young careers (and Jackson forced a fumble), but while we’re handing out game balls, we have to give two to a couple of fan favorites who play on defense.

Two Eagles with ties to Detroit create a season highlight.

If you have the ear of someone at ESPN, we have an idea for the top-ten plays countdown. Two Birds with ties to the city of Detroit, Darius Slay and Avonte Maddox, combined for an exhilarating score by the Eagles’ defense.

You can best believe that NFL Films is placing this one in those team yearbooks that they put together before every NFL season. Take a look:

Well, they don’t call him Big Play Slay for no reason. Credit Avonte Maddox for punching the ball out there.

Much has been made of Darius Slay’s return to the Motor City all week. He spent seven seasons there and made three Pro Bowls. In 2017, he was the NFL interceptions co-leader. What hasn’t gotten as much attention is the fact that Maddox is from Detroit and grew up a Lions fan (he even has a tattoo).

In a homecoming for both, it was nice to see them combine for a big play, especially after Maddox bought 35 tickets for the game. The Eagles roll in Detroit. It should be a nice plane ride home.
