These Philadelphia Eagles earned their game balls against the Detriot Lions

Hero: T.J Edwards, Linebacker

Linebacker T.J Edwards came to play and showed up in a big for his team in Week 8. Edwards led the Eagles with 13 total tackles, two tackles for a loss, and one QB hit. He was all over the field and became a massive issue for the Lions’ offense. Edwards is quietly becoming an unsung hero of this defense this year.

Hero: Darius Slay & Avonte Maddox, Cornerbacks

The former Lion feasted against Goff and company. Darius Slay, who is starting to put together a Pro Bowl season, was sticky in coverage and, pretty much, shut down anyone that he covered.

His scoop and score against his former team was the knockout punch. Who set up that scoop and score? None other than Detroit native Avonte Maddox.

Avonte is continuously earning himself a contract extension by this team. He has been incredible the last couple of weeks, and this week was no different. He was aggressive in coverage and forced a fumble that allowed the Eagles’ to add to a commanding lead.

Hero: The Eagles coaching staff

You have to give credit when credit is due. Head coach Nick Sirianni and defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon probably had their best game plans since Week 1. Yes, this was against arguably the worst team in the NFL, but the manner in which they called the game earns them both a spot on this list.

Gannon let his defense be aggressive, which paid off massively, and Sirianni stuck with what was working and let his rushing attack take the pressure off both the offensive line and his quarterback. This team still has a lot of work to do, but they answered many of the questions that were being asked, for a week anyway.
