The Philadelphia Eagles score a few moral victories in Week 9.

Do moral victories matter? In games in which teams are supposed to lose, are we allowed to give ourselves cause for optimism? If not, should we align ourselves with what Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said in his post-game press conference following Week 9’s loss to the Los Angeles Chargers? An unusually stoic Eagles head coach uttered a few words that we’ve all said from time to time: “A loss is a loss is a loss”.

What stings the most about the most recent is this. The Birds remain winless at the nest, Lincoln Financial Field. They had every shot to win minus one, a final drive with the ball that could have put them ahead. Jalen Hurts was decent. Philadelphia’s defense wasn’t, but you all know all of that already.

Here are a few things that may have slipped past you.

1. The Philadelphia Eagles defense may be losing faith in its defensive coordinator.

In less than three weeks’ time, we’ve heard some very public dissatisfaction from two of Philadelphia’s stars on defense about the job that Jonathan Gannon is doing.

Say what you want about Fletcher Cox and whether or not he’s regressed, but he’s always been the good soldier. With that being said, listening to him make statements about not being able to be as aggressive as he’d like to be and seeing Javon Hargrave express some frustration in his Week 9 post-game presser has to be a sign.

Don’t be surprised if you start hearing questions asked about whether or not Gannon is losing his guys. These players know what’s being said about them, and they don’t like it, especially when they know that they’re doing exactly what the play call asks them to do.

That’s one issue. Here are two other things that we’ve learned from Week 9’s loss.
