Maybe this is one of those times in which we go with the word of the player over his team? Since the day before Halloween, Miles Sanders has been hanging out in football limbo better known as the injured reserve (or football’s purgatory, depending on how you look at it). As you know, players are given that designation to ensure the team employing them won’t have to cut them or tie up a roster spot while said player works his way back onto the field.

For the affected party, it has to feel like you’re barely on the team though. They aren’t participating at practice or traveling with the team on game days, so we can forgive Miles if he kind of jumped the gun on this one.

He announced, via his Instagram story, that ‘he’s back’. Simple enough right? Pro Football Focus provided us with a clip they lifted from his Instagram account. Take a look.

Throw that one in the ‘good news’ category for the Philadelphia Eagles. There’s just one problem. We haven’t heard this announcement from anyone other than him.

Hopefully, the Eagles will corroborate Miles Sanders’ story here shortly.

At the time of this story being written and published, Miles Sanders is still on the Eagles’ IR per the team’s website. He was seen at their Thursday practice session leading up to Week 10’s game versus the Denver Broncos.

The Eagles added Jordan Howard to the active roster on October 10th. They technically haven’t opened a 21-day practice window for Sanders yet. Once they do that, he can be elevated to the active roster at any time, but first thing’s first.

The most important thing is making sure he isn’t risking further injury. The adrenaline is pumping, and understandably so. He had to be chomping at the bit watching Jordan Howard and Boston Scott get carries that he probably thought he should have been getting himself. Still, even though that will make any young running back heal faster, there’s no reason to assume 26 will be back on the field in Denver.
