Fletcher Cox, defensive tackle. 91. player. 54. . .

Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Fletcher Cox

The word seems to be out on Fletcher Cox. If you aggravate him by double-teaming him and frustrate him early, HE WILL QUIT. His continued presence in the Philadelphia Eagles defensive starting lineup is inexcusable. Oh, you disagree? Don’t take the word of a frustrated man with a keyboard. Try something on your own when you get a chance.

Look at Fletcher Cox’s stat line or his ranking on Pro Football Focus. Once you’ve identified that it’s Cox that you’re looking at, pretend that it isn’t.

Forget the six Pro Bowl appearances in nine seasons. Forget the fact that he was a First-team All-Pro in 2018 and a Second-team All-Pro in 2014, 2015, and 2017.

Just look at his monstrous salary (the team’s highest), and tell yourself that this man is a team captain that has only been able to manage 15 tackles and a single sack in nine games (and nowadays, the tackles only seem to come when someone runs into him).

Find number 91 in the Eagles jersey the next time the Birds are playing. Forget everything that you know about him or what he’s done to this point, watch him stumble around lazily, and ask yourself if he deserves to be out there.

We love the guy, but there’s something about letting the best players play (or at least the ones that are more hungry). Fletcher Cox didn’t start looking like a shell of his former self when Gannon showed up. This dates back to LAST season. It may be time to see if Marlon Tuipulotu and Milton Williams can play.
