Jalen Reagor pays for a few tough snaps for an Eagles offensive linemen.

On 3rd and 10 from the Eagles’ own one-yard line on their second drive of the game, Reagor is lined up on the sideline of the field side in a two-by-two set. Watkins is playing next to him in the slot. Pre-snap the Chargers corner is lined up about 10 yards off of Reagor but he creps down to about five yards right before Kelce snaps it.

The Chargers are in what might be a variation of Cover 1 rat or robber. Everyone is playing man-to-man with the deep safety playing the field side against Reagor and Watkins and the other safety playing the middle of the field.

Both Reagor and Watkins are running vertical routes which will force the deep safety to make a choice. With the slot corner playing inside leverage to take away any in-breakers Watkins runs an outside release on a post towards the middle of the field and has a step.

Reagor also runs an outside release and swipes the hands of the corner away on his go route and also has a step. It looked like the safety was going to try and take away Watkins’ post but he likely would’ve been too late. Unfortunately, Jack Driscoll had a rare mistake in pass protection which forced Hurts to step up in the pocket into the arms of Joey Bosa. With the inaccuracy of Hurts’ deep ball this year, even with a clean pocket, Reagor would’ve needed a similar throw to the 91-yard pass to Watkins in Week 2.

Later in the second half, the Chargers once again rotated from a two-high shell to single-high post-snap. They sent a fire zone blitz, a five-man pressure with three zone defenders underneath and three zone defenders deep.

The Eagles were in a two-by-two and Reagor and Goedert were running double digs to the field side on a 3rd and 4.  Reagor stems vertically again and this time uses a nice head fake and flips the corner’s hips before cutting inside. This time, the fire zone created one-on-ones on the offensive line, and Joey Bosa bull-rushed Driscoll into Hurts’ lap.
