Eagles linebacker Alex Singleton

Before Alex Singleton played 17 percent of the snaps in Week 10 versus the Denver Broncos (which was an increase over appearing on the field for 14 percent of the snaps in Week 9), his snap count and percentage of snaps played for the Eagles’ defense had decreased steadily from Week 5 on.

In each of the five weeks that followed a 56-snap outing in both Week 3’s blowout loss versus the Dallas Cowboys and a Week 4 game in which the Birds were again throttled by the Kansas City Chiefs, Singleton’s snap count looks like this: 53 snaps in Week 5 versus the Carolina Panthers, 47 snaps in Week 6 versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 37 snaps in Week 7 versus the Las Vegas Raiders.

He was also on the field for 21 snaps in Week 8 versus the Detroit Lions, and even though we mentioned the percentage of snaps played increased from Week 9 to Week 10, he was only on the field for ten total defensive snaps in both games.

He’s been criticized for missing tackles and taking a step backward after crafting a nice regular season during the 2020-2021 NFL campaign. Now, it looks like the Eagles coaching staff may be falling more in love with Davion Taylor and T.J. Edwards. To make matters worse, Singleton is only playing on a one-year deal.
