Here’s the recipe for the first Philadelphia Eagles home win of 2021.

The last Philadelphia Eagles victory at Lincoln Financial Field came on December 13th, 2020 versus the New Orleans Saints. Now, sitting one game back of the final wild card spot, the Birds face the sixth-seeded Saints looking for their first home win of the season.

Last year’s victory came in a crucial spot with the NFC East still up for grabs. Jalen Hurts shined bright in his NFL starting debut getting the Birds out to a 17-0 lead on the way to a 24-17 victory.

Recent prior matchups have presented some heartbreak for Birds fans. The Alshon Jeffery drop. The 48-7 beating. You can even look back to the Saints game-winning field goal as the Eagles surrendered another playoff loss in Chip Kelly’s first (and only) playoff game or the 2007 playoff loss to end Jeff Garcia’s magical season. Who can forget that one? There have been a few Eagles’ wins in that span but they don’t necessarily outweigh the heartbreak.

This season’s game might not be a battle of heavyweights but both teams are looking to spark some momentum on the way to a playoff berth. Philly has a manageable schedule the rest of the way and a win versus New Orleans would put them in an excellent position for the remainder of the season.

They would also hold tiebreakers over New Orleans, Carolina, and Atlanta, teams that are all in the midst of the wild card race. For the Saints, they are trying to maintain their position in the playoffs and rebound following losses to Atlanta and Tennessee. Buffalo and Dallas await them in Weeks 12 and 13. The stakes are high for both sides. Let’s take a look at how the Birds can get one step closer to .500 and a playoff seed:
