As the time runs out on the NFL’s 11th week of action, the Philadelphia Eagles have a few more hours to celebrate their first winning streak of the season before the focus shifts to the hated New York Giants for the first of their annual two-game series with Big Blue.

It’s been an interesting week, but if you’re like most Birds fans, you occasionally take a peek at what former Eagles are doing. Mack Hollins surprisingly still has a career in Miami with the Dolphins. Nelson Agholor is following a productive 2020 season in Las Vegas as a member of the Raiders with another in a New England Patriots jersey.

And, wouldn’t you know it? Stop the presses ladies and gentlemen, Zach Ertz can still play! In his first game as a member of the Arizona Cardinals, he scored on the longest catch and run of his career. Four weeks later, heading into halftime versus the Seattle Seahawks, he had posted two more scores. One of which came versus another former Eagle now playing with the Seattle Seahawks.

Remember Sidney Jones? Well, he got taken to the woodshed here.

Former Eagles combine for a highlight reel moment in Seattle.

In 2017’s NFL Draft, the Eagles had a decision to make about their cornerback position. Here’s what they decided to do. They gambled on an injured prospect that had to be carted off of the field during his Pro Day with an Achilles injury, taking him in the second round knowing that he wouldn’t be able to play immediately.

The theory was, if Jones could bounce back, the Philadephia Eagles would have gotten what was once a first-round talent later on in the selection process. Things didn’t work out that way.

Aside from a few plays here and there, most of Jones’ career in the City of Brotherly Love was forgettable.

After three seasons, the Philadelphia Eagles gave up on Jones. He spent a season in Jacksonville with the Jaguars before landing with the Seattle Seahawks this season. As you can see there isn’t much that has changed. Later on, a would-be interception in the fourth quarter by Jones would be overturned upon further review.

Not much has changed with Zach Ertz either. He’s still making plays. No, he isn’t what he once was. Philadelphia’s decision to move on from him was the correct one, but rumors that he’d disappear trying to find life after the Eagles have been slightly exaggerated.
